    • 4.    Truancy
Advance Learner’s Dictionary (2009), defined a truant as a person who is habitually absent from school without good reasons. A good number of students themselves from school or even withdraws entirely.    Nowadays truancy has been an observable delinquent behavior that is wide spread in our schools both secondary and tertiary institution. Truancy can also be a social problem associated with inadequate home/school care and consent flogging of student. Many factors are contributing to students playing truant. The factors include:
Lack of school materials: where a student has no materials and textbooks, he would not like to be in school in order to avoid being flogged or punished.
Where life is dull in the school, the students prefer ding other active things that interest them than going to school. Teachers’ methods of teaching also contribute to students’ truancy. Moreover when the teaching is teacher-centered, students’ interest is killed. The home promotes truancy by not providing adequate needs of the students to keep him busy in class/school.
Uche (2006:08) recognizes the home as very important in shaping the childs personality, some knowledge is deliberately and consciously taught by parents and significant other in the extended family. Many children this days lack parental care because they live home early and can be exposed to some behaviour that is not expected of them at that particular age. Financial constraints of some parent tell much on the academic performance of the students. Students who do not have required materials in the school are liable to face an undesirable condition which can make him play truancy.
      5.    Examination Malpractice
Examination malpractice being an act of cheating during examination has become an educational pollutant as well as a cardinal nuisance. As frequency and magnitude have done havoc to educational standard. To that, students’ faith and confidence in their own intellectual power to succeed in school have shaken in recent times. The introduction of continuous assessment into Nigeria Education system was initially intended to reduce the emphasis on the slough the one-shot. Final examination procedure, the British Colonial educational system encouraged. It was logistically hoped that with a reasonable emphasis on student performance on continuous assessment, the level of desperation regarding the final examination would be curbed along with cheating.
A paper reported that examination lack before the D-day and students prepare and copy their own pieces of papers with the hope of transcribing them into their sheets when they get to the hall. Abiodun (2002), stresses that students hire fellow students to write examinations for them. It is also noted that the number of students caught in examination malpractice were given necessary punishment depending on the institution.

The major causes of examination malpractice include:
      -    Poorly equipped school libraries
      -    Overcrowded examination hall
      -    Peer group influence
      -    Poor working conditions of the teachers
      -    Constant strike action etc.
The procedures the students employ to cheat include writing of school notes on their laps, on handkerchief, on naira notes or palms, other place into the examination their pockets and introduce them into the examination hall. Some students chew and swallow the piece of paper on which answers are written when investigators sometimes develop and release a “sign language” to use in transmitting answer when they enter the examination hall. Some students with the help of their teacher obtain the examination question ahead of time (EXPO) and either writes it on answer script to bring into the hall or write relevant note to avoid them in the hall.
      6.    Cultism
The horrifying activities in the universities pricked the nation on July 10, 1999 when five students were killed in bizarre massacre. Sheriff (2002), also reported that Onorat about 4pm 30 members of the black Axe secrete cult invaded the Awo hall of Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, where they shot and killed many students including the secretary general of students union government George Yemi Iwulade.
This makes the nation to make critical examination and seek effective measures to eradicate it once and for all. In university of Ibadan as a social club, just a few year age at Sheriff (2002) also stresses that the history of campus cult can be traced to the early 1950s, when Soyinka and some of his friends established the pirate confraternity in university of Ibadan as a social club. Just a few years age at University of Port-Harcourt. They massacre students through it has denied that it was a cult organization. A study conducted not long age by the National Universities Commission (NUC) revealed that the secrete cults and associating groups operating in universities include such deadly ones as Black Axe, Black Cat; Black Bra, Sea dogs, the canary, confraternity etc.
