Hypothesis Testing
The five null hypotheses formulated for this study were tested using t-test and ANOVA Statistical measures. All hypotheses were tested at 0.05 alpha level of significance.
Hypothesis One
There is no significant difference in the influence of birth order and gender on students’ academic achievement as perceived by respondents on the basis of gender.
Table 3 shows that the calculated t-value is 1.48, while critical t-value is 1.98. since the calculated t-value is less than the critical value, the bull hypothesis which states that there is no significant difference in the influence of birth order and gender on students academic achievement as perceived by respondents on the basis of gender is accepted. This shows that there is no significant difference between in the influence of birth order and gender on students’ academic achievement as perceived by respondents on the basis of gender.
