    • Conclusion
          Based on the results of the various analysis in the study, the study came up with the following conclusion:
          Factors that influence students’ academic performance and achievement are mistakes of other sibling, inability of the parent to meet the needs of their children; gender and birth order. Lack of guidance from older siblings and parental separation and neglect. Also, the findings revealed that there were no significant relationship in the influence of birth order and gender on students’ academic achievement as perceived by respondent on the basis of gender age, marital status, year of experience and religion.
      Implications of the findings
          The counselling implication of this study is that family size and family birth order are fundamental in academic success. Parents should maintain high commitment, for optimal range for academic success because the number of children in the family and family birth order will help in interactions, supports and financial assistance.
          Also, this study will equip the counsellors with various factors influencing students’ academic performance and achievement. This will assist in their counselling processes.
      Recommendations
           Based on the findings of this, study, it could therefore be recommended that:
      (1)    Parents should be adequately informed about the effects or consequences of family problems such as parental neglect, parental separation, divorce and domestic violent on children’s academic achievement and performance. This should be done by the school counsellors.
      (2)    Parents should always provide all their children’s academic needs such as textbooks and other basic needs. By doing so, the children will perform wonderfully well in schools. Parents should be properly enlightened by the school counsellors on the importance of providing all the basic needs of students.
      (3)    School counsellors should educate the parents on the effects of family size and birth order on students’ academic achievement and performance. This orientation will help in enhancing the academic achievement and performance of secondary school students.
      Suggestions for Further Studies
          This study was limited to investigating the influence of birth order and gender on students’ academic achievement in secondary school in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State. Subsequent studies may consider the following areas:
      (1)    The influence of family size on the students’ academic performance in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State.
      (2)    The influence of family dysfunctionalities on the students’ academic performance in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State.
      (3)     The influence of poverty on the students’ academic performance in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State.
      (4)    The influence of student alcohol consumption on students academic performance and achievement in Offa Local Government Area of
