Hypothesis five stated that there is no significant difference in the causes of academic related anxiety among students of tertiary institutions on the basis of mode of residence. The hypothesis was accepted.
By implication, students mode of residence (whether on or off campus) do not significantly differ in their perception of the causes of academic related anxiety. Ezenwa (2006), equally did not significantly differ in their perception of the causes of academic relate anxiety. Ezenwa (2006), equally did not find any significant difference among university students and anxiety on the basis of mode residence.
Hypothesis six stated that there is no significant difference in the causes of academic related anxiety among students of tertiary institution on the basis of religion. The analysis variance (ANOVA) result revealed that the hypothesis was accepted.
Conclusion
Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions are draw.
(1) Academic related anxiety is caused by various factors vis-a-vis psychological, social, economic and environmental.
(2) The most frequent causes of academic related anxiety have to do with difficult transportation system, negative self concept (inferiority complex) and inadequate fund to cope with “campus requirementsâ€.
(3) That there is no significant difference in the causes of academic related anxiety among students of tertiary institutions on the basis of gender.
(4) That there is no significant difference in the causes of academic related anxiety among students on tertiary institutions in Kwara State on the basis of types of institution.
(5) That there is no significant difference in the causes of academic related anxiety among students of tertiary institutions in Kwara State on the basis of marital status.
(6) That there is no significant difference in the causes of academic related anxiety among students of tertiary institutions in Kwara State on the basis of age.
(7) That there is no significant difference in the cause of academic related anxiety among students of tertiary institution in Kwara State on the basis of mode of residence.
(8) That there is no significant difference in the causes of academic related anxiety among students of tertiary institutions in Kwara State on the basis of religion.
Implication of the Findings
The findings of the study bring to fore some crucial information that requires the attention of the parents, lecturers, counsellors, school administrators, government and non-governmental agencies.
The study revealed that tertiary institution students in Kwara State of learning had some academic anxiety, which requires the attention of stakeholders in the field of education.
Recommendations
The findings of this study pose some challenges to counsellors. Therefore, school counsellors and counsellor educators should provide guidance services to tertiary institution students in order to assist them to manage effectively with their level of anxiety during the academic pursuit guidance services should not be limited to mere provision of information to tertiary institution students but should include preparing them for further challenges and the positive way out.
