      SUMMARY, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
This chapter presents a summary of study after which it gives a brief conclusion based on the findings of the result derived from the data analysed. Therefore, the chapter presents some recommendations with the hope that if they are implemented, there will be further success in the use of school sports.
      Summary
There has been general perceived decline in students’ performance in sporting activities in and outside their schools. The poor performance has been so striking that it became even disturbing to all stakeholders not only in sports but also in general education and health industries. Various factors have been postulated as being the causes of the poor performance. Hence, the intent and attempts so far in this study has been to explore the factors influencing the performance of students in sports. Therefore, this work was carried out under five chapters with headings and subheadings with each addressing independent but related issues.
Chapter One addressed background to the study giving the general motive behind the work with the purpose as well as the significance of the study to individuals and the society at large. This chapter also defined some concepts as operationally used. This was to ensure clarity of expression.
In chapter Two, related literature was reviewed with a view to bringing out scholars’ opinions and views about the topic of discussions. The purpose was to provide an atmosphere for which the present study was based. Here, the researcher set forth all the relevant scholarly conceptions about the factors influencing students’ performance in sports.
Chapter Three dealt with the research methodology. Being an empirical work, the study made use of questionnaire as an instrument of data collection. It was administered on the respondents in order to elicit information as regards the research questions and hypotheses.
Chapter Four was concerned with data analysis. Here, the data collected through the instrument were analysed using table and simple percentage. The hypotheses were tested with chi-square statistical method.
The last chapter is concerned with the summary of the study, conclusion and recommendations. This is meant to wrap up the whole work. The recommendations are to address the observed problems in line with the findings of the study.
