DISCUSSION, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
This chapter presents the discussion of the results, conclusions and recommendations based on the findings of the research.
Discussion of Results
This work focus on the Assessment of Secondary Schools Students Enrolment of Islamic Studies in SSC Examination in Abeokuta. Based on the results of the findings, it was discovered that:
There was significant difference on the interest of students and enrolment of Islamic Studies in SSC Examination. This finding is in contrary to the findings of Mathew (2009) opined that the interest of student towards enrolment in any organisation must be given a serious consideration and cannot be over emphasized for the dream of any students to be actualize.
It was revealed among other that there was significant difference on the influence of students-parents and enrolment of Islamic Studies in SSC Examination. This finding is similar to the findings of Maxwel (2008) posited that student-parent relationship is very important for any achievement of students to materialize.
Finally, the summary on the Table 3 shows that there was significant difference on the influence of peer group and enrolment of Islamic Studies in SSC Examination. This finding confirmed the finding that corroborates that of Sammi (2010) observed that peer group in any organization cannot be over-emphasized because it can bring about both positive and negative development but it is very important for any individual to be careful with any peer group since it cannot be over-emphasized.
Conclusions
Based on the findings of the study which stemmed from the data collected and analysed with the results obtained, the following conclusions were drawn.
1. There was significant difference on the interest of students and enrolment of Islamic Studies in SSC Examination.
2. There was significant difference on the influence of students-parents and enrolment of Islamic Studies in SSC Examination.
3. There was significant difference on the influence of peer group and enrolment of Islamic Studies in SSC Examination.
Recommendations
From the findings and conclusions of this study, the following recommendations are made:
1. Interest of students needs to be given serious consideration before their enrolment into Islamic Studies class so that it will not have a negative effect on their performance.
2. There is need for child-parent solid relationship and understanding on the need and benefits of the Islamic Studies to their life thereby encouraging them to pertake in the subject at the external examination.
3. Parent should monitor their children upbringing into day to day life so that they will not be influence by peer group in choosing their subject of interest.
Suggestions for Further Studies
Further studies could be carried out in the following areas:
1. Problem of Indiscipline and Its Impact on Academic Activity in Secondary School in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
2. A Survey of the Causes of Indiscipline among Students in Public Secondary Schools in Ilorin East Local Government Area, Kwara State.
3. A Study of the Causes of Teenage Pregnancy among Female Students and Its Effects on their Academic Performance in Abeokuta Secondary Schools, Ogun State.
