• An Evaluation On The Impact Of Digital Literacy Skills On Librarians Job Performance

    • This study evaluated the impact of digital literacy skills on librarians job performance in Kwara State Universities, Nigeria. Specifically the study focused on ascertaining whether there is a significant relationship between digital literacy skills and job performance of library personnel, determining the benefits of digital literacy to the job performance by the library personnel in Kwara state universities, Nigeria, and finding out the factors that hinder digital literacy training for library personnel in Kwara state universities, Nigeria.

      The survey design was adopted and the simple random sampling techniques were employed in this study. The population size comprised of selected accountants of selected librarians in Kwara state universities, Nigeria. In determining the sample size, the researcher conveniently selected 41 respondents and 35 were validated. Self-constructed and validated questionnaire was used for data collection. The collected and validated questionnaires were analyzed using frequency tables and mean scores.

      The result of the findings reveals that the benefits of digital literacy to the job performance by the library personnel in Kwara state universities, Nigeria include: quick and effective selection of library materials, increase on the general knowledge and skills of operating system, enhanced efficiency in the provision of information materials and competency in the application of new technologies to library operations. Therefore, the study recommended that there is need for compulsory and adequate training and retraining of library staff in the area of ICT knowledge and skills acquisition. This is important because ICTs are skill-oriented resources and continue to record advances and changes from time to time.
