    • Various types of juicy fruits are plentiful in many regions of Nigeria, especially during harvest seasons. There is a growing demand for fruit juices among all age groups due to their high content of vitamins, minerals, and fiber, which are vital for human and animal growth, support metabolic activities, and improve health. In response, I designed, built, and tested a juice extractor in the laboratory using oranges.

The oranges were washed, sliced into 8 and 16 pieces, and processed in quantities of 1 kg, 1.5 kg, and 2 kg. The juice yield, extraction loss, and extraction efficiency were calculated using standard formulas and methods. The highest juice yield was 64.6%, with an extraction efficiency of 68.2% and an extraction loss of 7.05%, achieved from 16-slice oranges. Such a device can be produced in small machine shops in orange-growing developing countries for use at the village level.
