4.0 DESIGN CALCULATION
4.1 SPEED RATIO ANALYSIS
The following evaluation for belt and pulley
Sn/Sr = Dr/Dn -----------------------(1)
Where Sn= Speed of driven pulley in rpm
Sr= Speed of driven pulley in rpm
Dr= Diameter of the driver pulley in cmm)
Sr= 1440rpm
Sr=w=2Ï€/60 1440= 150.819rad/sec
Dn=300mm
Dr= 100mm
Sn=?
Substitution the values into equation we obtain
Sn= 100/300 x Sr
= 100/300 x 1440/60 x 2Ï€rad/sec
= 50.30rad/sec
SPEED RATIO= 50.819/50.30 = 3:1
4.2 MECHANISM LINK ANALYSIS
The mechanism of the machine drive is shown in the appendix A, it comprises of 4 mechanical link elements, having and 4 joints.
L=4, J=4 and P=4.
Substituting these values in the two equations,
L=
2p-4 -------------------------------------------(2)
[2009]
4=2x4-4
=4
J= (3L=2)/2 ------------------------------------------(3)
(2009)
4= 3/2 x 4
=6-2
=4
This shows that the mechanism in a perfect mechanism chain.
4.3 VELOCITY DIAGRAM ANALYSIS
The position of the mechanism atain instance is shown in appendix 1. The velocity of point A on the pulley link.
V= roo -------------------------------------(4)
=0.065x50.30
=3.270m/sec
In the direction shown in appendix A tangential as the link OA rotate in the clockwise direction. Tangential velocity Vb is horizontal in the direction below shown. The velocity of link AB is the direction perpendicular to it. We then obtain the velocity diagram drawn in fig 2. We measured out Vb as 1.03m/s Vab is also measure as we measured out Vb as 1.03m/s Vab is also measured as Vab = 2.687m/s
Fig3 show the instanameous centre 1 at which the link AB rotate
4.4 POWER ANALYSIS
Element DA represent the driven pulley weighting 6.5kg element AB is a 25mm diameter steel pipe of 4mm thickness weighing 1.5kg.
Element represent the leader assembly weighthing 8.9kg
Angular speed of OA= 50.30 rad/sec
Angular speed of AB= Vab/AB = 2.687/0.557
=4.824rad/sec

CHAPTER ONE - [ Total Page(s): 1 ]CHAPTER ONEINTRODUCTIONGroundnut decorticator is a machine used in decorticating or shelling groundnut, shelling is the removal of kernel from pods. The spectacular increase in the use and number of hand operated decorticator throughout the northern states in Nigeria coupled with the poor quality of decorticated groundnut generally seen has made it necessary to recommend practices on the general operation and adjustment of the common hand decorticators So the manufacturing engineers brain ... CHAPTER TWO - [ Total Page(s): 2 ]CHAPTER TWO2.0 ANALYSIS OF ALTERNATIVES TO MOTORIZED OPERATED GROUNDNUT DECORTICATING MACHINEGroundnut decorticator machine is a means of shelling groundnut i.e removal of kernel from pods, it has many alternatives. Alternative in the sense that those other things that can be used in place of motorized groundnut decorticator machine These alternative are as follow  Hand, mortar, pestle and sack Manual operated decorticated machine2.1TRADITIONAL METHOD OF DECOR ... CHAPTER FIVE - [ Total Page(s): 2 ]CHAPTER FIVE SELECTION OF MATERIALSIn the engineering sphere, to achieve the desire standard, strong valuable and very attractive high quality product. The selection of material for any fabrication work must be one as its best. The selection of material is therefore should be based on the properties of that material is to be used in relation to the purpose for which the project is giving to serve.Similarity the withstand certain amount of wad and the durability of such material should be sel ... CHAPTER SIX - [ Total Page(s): 1 ]CHAPTER SIX6.0 CONCLUSION Groundnut is one of the major cash crop that is widely grown in Nigeria because of its value as foreign exchange earner and has increase continues to generate interest. Shelling of groundnut is done locally as cracking the pod by hand, using mortal and pestle which are laborious and time consuming. This reason has call for the fabrication energy cost involving in traditional ways of shelling groundnut. The efficiency of the design fabrication groundnut ... Continue reading---
