This study assesses the effect of early pregnancy and abortion among teenage girls under 13 to 17. Specifically, the study determines the extent of early pregnancy and abortion among teenage girls under 13 to 17, determines whether early pregnancy and abortion has effects among teenage girls under 13 to 17, examines the causes of early pregnancy among teenage girls under 13 to 17, examines the factors that influence of abortion among teenage girls under 13 to 17 and proffers solutions to the menace of early pregnancy and abortion among teenage girls under 13 to 17. The study employed the survey descriptive research design.
A total of 260 responses were validated from the survey. The study adopts the Theory of Reasoned Action and the Social Control Theory. From the responses obtained and analysed, the findings reveals that the extent of early pregnancy and abortion among teenage girls under 13 to 17 is high. The study recommends that the home and school environments should be protective enough to shield the children from exposure to negative influences, by parents and teachers been concerned about the well-being of the girl child through education about sex and sexuality and the danger inherent.
