CHAPTER FOUR
4.0 RESULT
Table 4.1 depicts the demographic indices between diabetic patients using antidiabetic drugs (cases) (Metformin and Diabinese) and non-diabetic patient (control). Observable data shows a significant (p˂0.05) difference in mean age of the diabetic patients (57.43±1.31) compare to the control (43.30±2.67). The marital status of the diabetic patients and non-diabetic control subjects as indicated on table 4.1 depicts 59(98.4%) of the diabetic patients to be married and 1(1.6%) was single. Also 31(77.5%) of the control subjects were married and 9 (22.5%) were single and this was statistically significant (p˂0.05). The educational status of the diabetic patients were tertiary 27(45%); secondary 3(5%); Primary 9 (15%) and none 21 (35%) and non-diabetic control subjects were tertiary 31(77.5%); primary 1 (2.5%); none education 8 (20%) and none has secondary education and this was statistically significant.
Table 4.1: Comparison of demographic indices between diabetic patients using antidiabetic drugs (cases) (metformin and diabinese) and non-diabetic patient (control).

Table 4.2 shows the anthropometric indices between diabetic patients using antidiabetic drugs (cases) (Metformin and Diabinese) and non-diabetic patients (control). The mean height of the diabetic patients was 170.78±0.62 and that of the control was 168.45±0.82 and this was statistically significant (p˂0.05). The mean weight and BMI of the diabetic patients were 72.53±1.79 and 24.82±0.57 respectively and that of the control patients were 69.70±2.45 and 24.43±0.75 respectively and this was not statistically significant (p>0.05).
