    • Hypothesis Five
H05: Succumb to infections is not a significant result of malnutrition among children in Ilorin west local Government Area.

Table 6 showed chi-square summary succumb to infection and malnutrition among children in Ilorin East local Government Area. The calculated value is 82.13 and the table value is 16.92, degree of freedom of 9 at 0.05 alpha level of significance. The decision is to reject the null hypothesis if the calculated value is greater than critical value therefore, null hypothesis was rejected which indicates that succumb to infections is a significant result of malnutrition among children in Ilorin East local Government Area.
      Discussion of Findings
The present study investigated the incidence of malnutrition among children in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara state. Research hypothesis one (1) revealed that sickness is a significant result of malnutrition among children in Ilorin west local Government Area. This result is in line Chiabi (2008), Pelletier et al. (1993), Schroder & Brown (1994), Pelletier et al (1995), Mendez & Adair (1999), de Onis et al. (2000) study who observed that malnutrition causes childhood sicknesses.
Research hypothesis two (2) revealed  that mortality of children is a significant result of malnutrition among children in Ilorin East local Government area. The result is in consistent with Chiabi, (2008) study who found that malnutrition causes childhood morbidity and mortality. Studies have shown the association between increasing severity of anthropometric deficits and mortality and substantial contributions are made by all degree of malnutrition to child mortality (Pelletier et al., 1993; Schroeder and Brown, 1994; Pelletier et l., 1995; Mendez and Adair, 1999; Onis et al., 2000). World Health Organization in 2001 reported that 54% of all children mortality was attributable directly or indirectly, to malnutrition.
Research Hypothesis three (3) revealed that low body resistance to diseases is a significant result of malnutrition in Ilorin East local Government Area. The result corroborates with Jobiba, Andrew, Theresa, Catherine, (2008); Irena, Mwambazi, & Mulenga, (2011).
Research hypothesis four (4) revealed that growth is a significant result of malnutrition among children in Ilorin East Local Government Area. This result is in consonance with Solomon (1985) & Roy et al. (2007) who observed that almost any illness will impair a child’s growth. According to Demographic and Health Survey in 2003, under-five children in Nigeria are stunted as a result of malnutrition. The 2004 Food  Consumption and Nutrition Survey reported similar trends.
Research Hypothesis four (4) revealed that succumb to infections is a significant result of malnutrition among children in Ilorin local Government Area. Malnutrition is one of the biggest health problems that the world currently faces and is associated with more than 41% of the death occur annually in children from 6 to 24 months is age in development countries which total approximately 2.3 million, (Sandoval-Priego, Reyes-Morals, Perez-Abrego-Blass, & Orrico-Torres, 2002).

CHAPTER ONE - [ Total Page(s): 3 ]Infections influence body size and growth through their effects on metabolism   and nutrition. Additionally, UNICEF conceptual framework also recognize poor caring practices as equally important cause of malnutrition (UNICEF, 1990). Environmental factors have a profound effect on health and can make nutritional problems worse. A child who is well fed but drinks contaminated water and lives in polluted environment will not grow up healthy (UN, 2004). Studies have shown the association between i ... CHAPTER TWO - [ Total Page(s): 6 ]Surprisingly, Ghana has not seen much improvement in childhood malnutrition and mortality even with the remarkable gains in health infrastructure and investment since independence. Gains in pre-school malnutrition in post-independent era were reversed at the turn of the 21st century (Ghana Statistical Service, 2004). The past decade has witnessed an increasing trend of stunting but a slight decrease in underweight and wasting among children 5 year of and younger in Ghana (Ghana Statistical Servi ... CHAPTER THREE - [ Total Page(s): 2 ]Reliability of the Instrument    Reliability has to do with the consistency of the result, According to Koul (2001), Rose, (2001) is the stability, dependability and predictability of the tests or of the method been used. The reliability of an instrument is the degree to which it yields consistent results, when it is administered over a numbers of times. The researcher employed test retest method to find the reliability of the instrument. The researcher administered sample of twenty (20) ques ... Continue reading---
