SUMMARY, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMANDATION
Summary
The study investigated the incidence of malnutrition among children in Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara state. Data collected from two hundred (200) respondents was presented with appropriate tables with the use of frequency count and percentages while five hypothesis were tested in study the use of chi-square (x2) statistical method at 0.05 significance level. It has been able o found out in the study influence of sickness, influence mortality of children, effect of low body resistance to disease, effect of stunted growth and effect of succumb to infection on malnutrition among children in Ilorin west local government are.
Conclusion
Based on the finding made in this study, the following conclusion are therefore made that;
1. Sickness is a significant result of malnutrition among children; in Ilorin East local west Government Area.
2. Mortality of children is a significant result of malnutrition among children in Ilorin East Local Government Area.
3. Low body resistance to disease is a significant result of malnutrition in Ilorin East local Government Area.
4. Stunted growth is a significant result of malnutrition among children in East Local Government Area.
5. Succumb to infection is a significant result of malnutrition among children in Ilorin East Local Government Area.
Recommendation
In light of the findings of this research work, the following recommendations were made:
1. In other to curtail the occurrence of sickness and stunted growth among infants, balance diet should be taken into consideration while feeding children.
2. Treatment of infections is required as early as possible since most of these patients have systemic infections. Oral sulfamethoxazole trimethoprim suspension is recommended for treatment of non – severe infection life UTI.
3. In case of complications like hypothermia or lethargy, concomitant sepsis must be suspected and coverage with a wide spectrum of antibiotics (Ampicillin, Gentamycin or chloramphenicol).
4. Infants should be fed orally using a cup, spoon or syringe and nasogastric tube if there is impaired consciousness or there is vomiting, tachypea, or painful stomatitis.
5. Hypothermia is common to malnourished child and is considered a sign of infection. If the rectal temperature <35.50C, the child should be warmed by using a warming blanket or by close contact with the mother’s body.
