    • This study examines the prevalence and patterns of risky sexual behaviors among adolescents attending public and private secondary schools in Benin Metropolis. It aims to assess the extent and nature of sexual health challenges faced by young people in this setting. Adolescents, as a vulnerable group undergoing developmental transitions, are often at risk of engaging in high-risk sexual behaviors such as early sexual initiation, unprotected intercourse, multiple sexual partners, and exposure to sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

The research employed a quantitative approach using a structured questionnaire administered to a random sample of 200 adolescents from public and private secondary schools in Benin Metropolis. The study explores the frequency of these behaviors and examines contributing factors, including peer pressure, family dynamics, and access to sexual health information. It also compares differences in risky sexual behaviors between students in public and private schools, taking into account variations in socio-economic status, educational programs, and resource availability.

The findings highlight the importance of providing adolescents with comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) that goes beyond abstinence. CSE should include topics such as contraception, STIs, consent, and healthy relationships, offering accurate, age-appropriate information to empower young individuals to make informed decisions about their sexual health. Schools are encouraged to implement CSE programs that address not only physical health but also the emotional, psychological, and social dimensions of sexual behavior, equipping adolescents to navigate complex issues surrounding relationships and sexual well-being
