    • Since the 1980s, public management reform has become a global priority, driven by the New Public Management (NPM) principles embraced by major industrialized nations. Developing countries, including Nigeria, have similarly adopted these principles, often imitating policies from advanced nations. This study examines the impact of public sector reforms on the performance of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Nigeria, an agency established in response to increasing road traffic accidents and inefficiencies in road safety management. The FRSC was created in 2009 to address these issues, but despite significant reforms, public service delivery in Nigeria remains criticized for inefficiency and corruption.

The primary aim of this research is to evaluate how public reform management affects the performance of the FRSC, particularly in the Nasarawa Command, Nasarawa State. The study explores public opinion on the FRSC’s performance, analyzes reform actions in road safety management, and assesses the relationship between these reforms and organizational performance. It also identifies challenges faced by the FRSC in capacity building and offers recommendations for enhancing its effectiveness.

The research is guided by hypotheses concerning the effects of reform management and the relationship between public reform policies and the performance of the FRSC. Findings from this study aim to contribute to the literature on public sector reforms and provide insights for future improvements in public administration, especially in road safety management. The study's limitations include financial and time constraints, which may affect the comprehensiveness of data collection and analysis.
