This study was carried out on the problems and achievement of the Nigeria health care system. The survey design was adopted and the simple random sampling techniques were employed in this study. The population size comprised of health workers in General Hospital Kwuba, Abuja. In determining the sample size, the researcher conveniently selected 53 respondents and 50 were validated. Self-constructed and validated questionnaire was used for data collection.
The collected and validated questionnaires were analyzed using frequency tables. While the hypotheses were tested using chi-square statistical tool. The result of the findings reveals that the extent to which Nigeria’s heath care system has achieved the SDGs is low.The study also revealed that the Nigeria national health system have been strengthened through the primary health care (PHC) approach. The study further deduced that the problems confronting health care system in Nigeria consist of constellation of social, economic and environmental challenges, poor remuneration, obsolete infrastructure, inadequate medical facilities, and underfunding of the hospitals.
Therefore, it is recommended that Nigeria statesmen should be less self centred but much more committed to health policy formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. This will help to improve the health sector. To mention but a few.
