    • This study was carried out to examine environmental sanitation in the control of mosquito breeding site in Owerri North local government. Specifically, the study   know the rate of malaria infection among inhabitants of Owerri North Local Government, investigate if inhabitants of Owerri North Local Government adopt an effective environmental sanitation, ascertain if inhabitants of Owerri North Local Government know the implications of indiscriminate waste on mosquito breeding site and find out the if high level of efficiency in the waste management serves as a control of mosquito breeding site.

      The study employed the survey descriptive research design. A total of 259 responses were validated from the survey. From the responses obtained and analysed, the findings revealed that   environmental sanitation is effective in the control of mosquito breeding site in Owerri North Local Government. The study recommend that the residents should provide household environmental sanitation facilities while the government and Community Based Organizations (CBOs) should provide community environmental sanitation facilities and services.  Also, the government should enforce existing environmental sanitation regulations in order to sanction house owners without basic environmental sanitation facilities.
